(1) Brochures on Vallecito area hikes will be available at both the General Store and the Country Market. (2) The marina is opening May 1st and fishing and boating will be available. (3) Mountain Utes Lands Park is a handicapped accessible park with some trails, great views, a pavilion and an accessible vault toilet (off CR 501 past Church: just past Big Corral turn right at green metal rails on entry road); one of the persons who helped create this park will be available for short tours and park information from 1-3 pm on May 20 (note: wind coming off the lake can be cool — bring a jacket). (4) Free tai chi lessons outdoors at the Mountain Utes Lands Park – depends on weather and your time – between 1-3 pm. (5) Do the “Tour of Carvings,” damaged trees carved by chainsaw into remembrance events of the Missionary Ridge Fire of 2002. (6) Area businesses would welcome you and provide food for lunch, your hike, your boat trip or a picnic in the park. (7) The Rusty Shovel (formerly Virginia’s Steakhouse) is having live music that day.
