Camp and Volunteer in the San Luis Valley

Celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day on this signature Family Camping project, which offers something for everyone, including individuals and volunteers of all abilities. While children ages 6-11 enjoy fun, educational activities, children ages 12+ will work alongside parents and family members as they break ground on the new Eastern San Luis Valley Trail system. Tasks range from light shoveling and raking to moving large rocks and building structures for those interested in a more challenging experience.

Celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day by building a sustainable trail in Evergreen's Dedisse Park! On this 100-person project, volunteers ages 14+ will work in small groups of 8-10 people to create a new section of trail that will direct users away from the many "social trails" in the park, which lead people off designated trails and damage the environment. Left unchecked, Colorado's Mediterranean Sage weed aggressively invades grasslands, reduces native plant populations, and degrades wildlife habitat and the overall health of prairie ecosystems. In celebration of Colorado Public Lands Day, we need 30 volunteers (age 10 and up) to search for and dig up plants on Boulder County Open Space Lands north of Boulder and west of Longmont.
