Join the Gunnison Public Lands Initiative, Mountain Manners, and Western State Colorado University Master and Environmental Management program on a free, guided hike up Lost Canyon on May 20th to celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day! Starting from the Lost Canyon Road, we’ll hike about 5 miles round trip. The hike has moderate elevation gain and meanders through sage brush topping out with 360-degree views of Gunnison country. We’ll have an incredible view of Carbon Peak, the Anthracite’s, and Uncompahgre.
Please come prepared with water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellant and any other materials you will need to enjoy a couple hours of hiking. We will meet at the Gunnison Bank and Trust in Gunnison at 1:30 to carpool to the hike.
For more information please email email@example.com or call (970) 389-5749.
Afterwards, we hope you will join us for a specialty Colorado Public Lands Day beer at High Alpine Brewery from 5:30 to 6:30 where Senator Kerry Donovan – the CO Public Lands Day Bill author – will be with local elected, community organizations and members to celebrate the reasons many of us live here in the beautiful Gunnison Valley–OUR Public Lands!
